Nick Finck has kindly shared his outline from his and Ross Olson’s talk on Standardizing the Web at Portland Multimedia | Internet Developer’s Group meeting. They clearly outlined the difference between "recommendations" & "standards," a common point of confusion. From there, they went into the benefits of using XHTML and CSS (something I am working to do with my site’s upcoming redesign <one of several reasons for my stress these days>), after you XHTML and CSS your docs — validate. Nick listed resources for validating along with other valuable links. What’s Web standards without controversy? Nick and Ross discussed the recent RAND and MSN.com craziness and closed the presentation with key understandings. The outline brief and easy to understand. So, if you have no time to read articles on this stuff, go skim the outline. Kudos to Nick and Ross for doing an excellent job in spreading the word.
