My dad was born and raised in Brooklyn. As soon as he hit 18 or 19, he joined the US Air Force because he was about to be drafted in the Marines. Thought the brief history of the city was interesting. I named my dog, B. Dodger (as in Brooklyn). [Link from Cam]

The funniest line I ever heard about Brooklyn was in the old SNL skit, “Samurai Night Fever” which, of course, skewered the movie “Saturday Night Fever”.
Dan Akroyd, John Belushi and some other cast members were sitting around a table in the bar, smoking and drinking, and Akroyd said, “This is the life! To be young, stupid, and living in Brooklyn!”
I thought it summed up the movie fairly well, too.
