Bush and Wonder Story Overblown

As much as we’d like the story of Bush frantically waving at Stevie Wonder to be true, it was blown out of proportion. So much for the Washington Post being a reliable source!

I found out about the Bush-Wonder incident by accident. After receiving a forwarded email (the petition type, sign your name at the bottom and forward it on) that Connor Geraghty started. He is the son of Chief Edward Geraghty, Battalion 9, New York City Fire Department who lost his life on September 11. Connor Geraghty was requesting we sign the email to establish September 11 as National Firefighter’s Day. Before handling the email, I went to Snopes to check it out. It is true that he started the email petition, but it won’t likely help and it’s better to send snail mail or sign the online petition.

Now why’d you have to go and ruin all of our fun and inside jokes like that? I think it’s a conspiracy. Like that movie Jifk. (Kelly Bundy reference.) ;-)

I love Snopes. Every time someone passes along any kind of petition, boycott, or terrorist rumor, I head immediately for snopes and then send them there.

Critical thinking skills. If only more people would use them. But then, you wouldn’t be able to have Meryland if that were the case.

Todd and I were discussing Snopes not too long ago though… How do we know THEY are giving the correct information? It could all be a huge inside joke to further cover up the truth. :-)
