Usability Capability Model

It’s a good thing they didn’t call it the Usability Maturity Model aka UMM. Usability Capabilities Model – Review and Analysis (PDF) summary states, “Our conclusion is that process assessment approach forms a good basis for a usability capability model. However, the existing models should be extended with new organisation and business related processes. In addition, non-process perspectives as skills, resources, technology, and culture in user-centred design should be covered.” [Link Webword]

Huzzah! I never believed in one-size-fits-all when it comes to processes. The author is correct in saying that it’s the organization’s processes that can extend a model along with other factors that input to it.
