New Architect: September has an article on an important concept that I mentioned the other day, handling user errors. Google and Amazon do a smart job of anticipating misspelled words and providing the user with a helpful response instead of seemingly rude feedback like "item not found." They provide forward progress and alternatives rather than some generic sounding 404 type message.
