Yes, another project has hit the scene. 1000JournalProject is an “attempt to follow 1000 journals in their travels, to see where they go and what people do with them.” There is one in Plano! Who do I gotta bribe to get one?
The pool is almost done. They’re spraying it. Watch the PoolCam. No, I will not have the PoolCam on when I go swimming. Pervert.
You go, Eric! That’s pitiful when the biggest, baddest software company can’t even make its accessibility page accessible. I hadn’t noticed this before because I never surf to Microsoft’s site with anything but IE because they do whatever they can to make it nasty in other browsers. OK, maybe a tad exaggeration, but that’s a fact.
The thought of that is gross, isn’t it? It’s one item that didn’t sell on eBay. I wonder why the heck not especially if an eBayer successfully sold one used size-9 work boot?? I mean ONE. The right boot. I’ve never found a weird auction on my own. I mean — I’m not going to sit around and enter strange words in hopes of hitting a funky auction. They’re fun to read once you hear about them. Want more on Gross Auctions? You know what to do.
Eric Meyer, CSS guru who works for Netscape, explained that the Netscape 4.x releases are to address security issues. Wow, I am surprised I haven’t run across that legitimate explanation before. The last I had heard was that another company was issuing the releases. Makes sense. Considered me shut up — in a friendly way, of course.
Some nice Flash eye candy. One bonus is most of these don’t surprise you by opening windows without your permission.
The Plaid Bubble looks like a Mac interface and it works great. “Plaid is a musical collective. The core members Ed Handley and Andy Turner have been working together since 1988.”
meomi has a little playhouse for Hello, Kitty and Pokemon cross-breeds. Create your own critter and play a critter concert.
Fan of Incredible Machine? Man, I miss playing that one. Owned the first few releases and then somehow got a life that took me away from games. Build a similar machine at SymmetryLab.

Hyperspace Star Polytope Slicer reminds me of those toys that expand and contract. Only, it’s an electric version that you can control.
Go figure. I get new hearing aids on the same day I learn from Zeldman that Netscape 4.8 is available for the mac and Windows. I can just hear the screams from designers worldwide. Excuse me while I go turn off my hearing aids and join in the screaming.
<edit>Michael Sauer found the Windows executable. Thanks, Michael. </edit>
It’s sad. Hearing aids cost a small fortune. I’m fortunate that my family always made sure that I had a way to hear. But what of those who can’t afford it? To make it worse, hearing aids have to be replaced every 5-8 years, and 8 is pushing it.
When replacing a part on one of the hearing aids, it broke. The repair cost was high, so I opted to look into new hearing aids – digital. Last time, I had tried digital, but they sounded terrible… back to analog. This time, the digitals are working nicely in the form of Widex Senso P37.
It was strange at first. The sounds were softer and I needed more power… power that I’ve relied on all these years. After wearing them for five hours, I’m getting the hang of it. It’s cool to finally get my ears to join the digital revolution.
New Architect: September has an article on an important concept that I mentioned the other day, handling user errors. Google and Amazon do a smart job of anticipating misspelled words and providing the user with a helpful response instead of seemingly rude feedback like "item not found." They provide forward progress and alternatives rather than some generic sounding 404 type message.
