Daylight Unsavings Time

Been tied up on a few new projects and the usual projects, which have kept me from adjusting to daylight savings time (my brain is confused). Daylight savings time applies only in the US (except Arizona) on Sunday night, April 6 at 2:00AM, we had to forward our clocks by one hour. OK, it doesn’t mean I had to set my alarm for 2:00 AM and change all the clocks, watches, and anything else that’s not smart enough to do it by itself. Either before going to bed or after waking up, we changed the clocks.

So, the problem is I go to bed too late and get up late. By not today, I had to get up early for my office job. That was fun… not. I was enjoying having daylight on my drive to work and now it’s dark again (until the days get longer).

Getting the kids adjusted to the new schedule is also a pain. They had been getting up without us waking them. It’s back to waking them. When we cook dinner, it feels like it’s too early and we eat too close to bedtime.

Why are we still implementing Daylight Savings Time? It first came to be to give people more daylight during WWII to save on electricity costs and such. I guess we won’t see it go away any time soon since many do like having the longer daylight, but it’s confusing to spring forward an hour or fall back an hour (in October). I’m too clock-oriented, I suppose.

All Natural CSS

Wow, I love what Mark Pilgrim did with CSS tabs. Wish I had time to try things like that. His Web site is clean, simple, good lookin’, and effective… the same thing I was aiming for when I redesigned this place, but the good lookin’ part is what I could not accomplish and it’s not 100 percent clean. Gimme a break. Two kids, one on the way, and a spouse out of a job. Don’t worry, I am not drowning my sorrows here… just trying to take action and it keeps me busy.

Are You Awake, CSS List?

The CSS List has been at a standstill. I stopped updating it when I started working with Ricardo on a new Web site design and URL. Well, that has since come to a halt, too. We’ve gotten swamped with other work and personal things (yes, we have personal lives).

By no means are we stopping the project. Far from it. I appreciate all those who continue to submit tableless Web sites built with CSS. I apologize for not responding as I leave them unread until I add them to the list to avoid losing track of where I left off.
