HTML vs. Text e-Newsletters

There have been a few studies looking at HTML vs. text in e-newsletters and what readers prefer. Another one indicates people want Just Plain Text, Please. The best thing to do is offer both options to readers, but that’s not always possible.

First off, I like the social networking icons on your sidebar (just sayin’…).

Secondly, I have a preference for reading plain-text emails sometimes. I have two phones (a regular samsung and a blackberry). I read tons and tons of emails on the blackberry and sometimes on the other phone. Plain text emails are much simpler to read! You have to take into consideration that most other people want to read emails via their phone and they may not have a blackberry so whilst fancy html makes the emails look great, it’s not exactly functional for some people.

And yet I send my emails in a flashy html template; lol :-)
