BTW, there are lots of great comments in Browser Switching Reports from the Field. I want to emphasize those of you having problems with FireFox — it may be a matter of needing to create a new profile as this usually corrects a lot of the problems. The default profile tends to go whacko.

Why don’t you say that this libpng problem isn’t just contained within
FireFox/Mozilla? I’ve seen quite a few other OS’s that have this same
problem. Take Solaris for instance. They have the same vulnerability. I
can just see it now, someone sees the libpng exploit in firefox, and they
say….wow firefox isn’t all that great. When in fact i’ve seen this
exploit appear for other programs and OS’s.
But, yes, it is nice to see that the team of developers for mozilla firefox
can readily fix this problem. Since they fixed this on August 4th.

Just would have been nice to see a side note that mozilla firefox was not
the only one who had this exploit (though, not anymore).
Also, a well known website that dedicates itself to security/bugs/updates for firefox is located here > http://www.squarefree.com/burningedge/
I do have confirmation that Solaris (True UNIX) and linux both have this problem.

Cute guys…real cute. I shulda knowed better, but…after reading “ANOTHER Mozilla Security Update” I clicked on “reader comments,” and read meryl’s notes. Then I clicked on http://scary.beasts.org/misc/pngtest_bad.png while other Firefox browser screens and Thunderbird were open. The browser that I used to go to the above url sat there for awhile with an hourglass, but Tbird was still up and running, so I finished an email, thinking I was waiting for a test result to come back.
Finally, I went back to Ffox, and sure enough, it was dead. I tried to start it again, but no go so I rebooted. When I started Ffox up it creaked like it wasn’t going to make it, but it finally cranked up.
So, a minor suggestion…WARN ME FIRST! There’s no way to get to upper levels on this site to see what’s going to happen cause they all say “Forbidden.”
