On my computer ,if I type regedit32 into 'run' Windows XP asks me if I want to add the contents to the registry. As such they are identical in appearance and if I would say 'yes 'to the Windows prompt my registry would double in size and my cpu wuold overheat trying to decide which programs to start once or twice,Believe me :duplicate entries in the registry will bog down even the healthiest person I mean computer.Actually a rogue program also accomplished to access both regedit and regedit32 and partially merge them.I am still undoing the damage but was still easier to undo than reinstalling Windows and 374 programs on my computer.

Heh... you make it sound like tech support people actually have an idea of what it is they're reading off of the screen.

Wow, I'm surprised I've never heard of Regedit32.

Tech support tells me to type 'regedt32' as opposed to 'regedit' to access the registry from the command line (Start > Run). I question the use of 'regedt32,' but he says to do it anyway. Whenever I use the registry...
