May I ask a favor? I’ve been needing to establish a character for meryl.net, the business. Here are three examples. I’d love to hear your thoughts - just comment below. Example 1. Examples 2 and 3. Oh, and, if you think something could use tweaking or a little something — say the word.
Update: Thank you, folks! I appreciate all the input. It looks like #1 is the clear winner with a few tweaks:
Replace :: with middle dot (like the current logo way up on the top of this page).
Soften / lighten blue circle to blend in with inside background. A little strong.
Narrow the space between Meryl and .net / .n and et. Dot should be more centered between meryl and net.
What about a slight font change? Maybe a little too flowery?

1 by far… much more professional, and yet also has a little memorable branding and character.
I agree - #1 stands head and shoulders above the other 2. I love that word ‘maven’
I prefer the middle dots you use now to the double “:”, that is all I would tweak.
I prefer the 3rd one. It is less traditional, more (if its a word) mavenish. I do think the ink in the Y makes it too heavy.
Not number three, the pen looks like its hovering over a wine glass, which may not the best thing for bishness - hiccup!
The other two both have merits, so it really comes down to which one speaks more for you and your business goals. I’d lean towards version one. Version two, although visually witty, suggests office supplies more than writing.
The immediate impression I get from these logos are:
Version one: personal, well-crafted/hand-crafted, prestiege/pedigree.
Version two: business, witty/clever, office supplies/service.
I really like number 1. It is a solid brand worthy logo that could carry a site, business cards, etc.
1 has more of a professional style than the others, but with a personal touch.
Cheers.
I like Example 1; however, I would alter the spacing of the .net part slightly.
It looks like #1 is the winner. My only suggest is to lightened/soften up the blue circle a bit to blend in with inside background. It is a bit too strong right now.
I like logo 1 the best too. It is a nice simple yet professional logo.
I think you should go with #2 or #3, and then give #1 to me.
I agree with the first logo being the best!
I feel a little setup for option #1, but I find it very classic in an unoriginal way; the colours and circle remind me a bit of the Mozilla Thunderbird logo.
I personally prefer #2, without the “wine glass,” as someone else pointed out; it might not need it, since you have the paper clip. I think perhaps some people are against this one due to bad experiences with Word :-).

I like #1 though I’d suggest you better kern the spacing in the letters on “Meryl.net” and also use the same font for “content maven” since you’re using 3 fonts, which can get a little cumbersome, or at the very least looks confusing. Otherwise I’d consider using more of the color of the “writing editing copy” in the graphic part, but it looks great.
