Just as analog cell phones were turned off at some point the analog backbone will be as well for home and business phones. It just makes sense. As far as Skype have used it and it is free as long as you call other Skype users. Personally I don't like the fact that I have to use a headset and being sitting in front of my computer to use it. This gives me the facility to use it when the computer is switched off, and also to call landline numbers at a cheap rate.
