Well, I did request a headset but it hasn't made it through the 16 levels of signature approval needed for the Company to spend the five dollars, so don't blame me!

I can relate. In my prior employment, we had two cubicles sharing a single phone (think of sitting at your desk and the right-had wall of your cubile removed; you and your neighbor have a phone inbetween). Not only does this make a personal 'personal' call out of the question, but you either hope to become good friends or hope the other person goes on a lot of road-trips. (fortunately, we became good friends).

Right behind us was a manager, who had an office (a door and all!) who used his speaker-phone incessantly, even to talk with his latest female companion. Yep. You can imagine....

scary, isn't it? I'm plagued by a couple of these nearby-cube loud-talkers as well.

The funny thing is that everyone else around them mocks them. When they start the day with their daily "Hi, Mom" calls (at full volume, of course), we all start shouting "Hi Mom," "Hi Dad," "Hi John-Boy," etc.

But they never get the message.
