[ insert exclamation of choice here ]!!! A lot of those !!! words came to mind when Esther told me about The Penguin Classics Library Complete Collection. First, I did a double-take. Then I went to Amazon and saw it was for real. Not that I wouldn’t believe Esther, but I figured I wasn’t reading her notes correctly. A quote:

From Edwin A. Abbott to Emile Zola, the 1,082 titles in the Penguin Classics Complete Library total nearly half a million pages–laid end to end they would hit the 52-mile mark. Approximately 700 pounds in weight, the titles would tower 828 feet if you stacked them atop each other–almost as tall as the Empire State Building.

Yeah, I just got finished doing heavy-duty cleaning in my house (and it’s 100+ degrees, far from springy weather). Like I am about to bring in another load of books after donating a bunch and posting some for sale. We got rid of an old couch, a dresser that was beyond repair, a mirror that my daughter has outgrown, and the list goes on. Gotta get through the books already crowding, stressing, and stretching my shelves.
