		<description>&lt;p&gt;Meryl, if your hard drive isn&#039;t damaged, there are ways to retrieve your data. Best Buy sells an encasing or adapter that will connect your old drive through USB to your new computer. Then you can search and find all files and drag them over to the new drive or a new folder on the new drive. I found this an easy method, having went through a similar situation. Of course now the drive that I pulled out of the sick computer is now a backup external drive for the new computer. The adapter is really cool, which transform the internal drive to a nice looking external drive. Keep in mind you will have to remove the old drive to connect the adapter to it.
