Glad to see you could share such a great story about your daughter on Blog Action Day. She truly has a beautiful heart to spread the word about a cause she is passionate and it is wonderful you took the time to share her story. I work with Survivor Corp, an organization intent on also raising awareness of the effects of war and the survivors that live through their hardships to tell their tale. Government is not going to change anytime soon but there is a hope that the abundance of survivors grow through multiple venuse of charity.

Amy -- you remind me of that proverb many of us have heard numerous times... "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime."

It's heartbreaking to hear women get raped while simply looking for wood and spending seven hours trekking.

How great that your daughter has gotten involved with something that will have such an impact on people who truly need it.

I agree with her. Everyone should have the chance to help themselves. If we can help give them that chance, then why not?

for my part, i turn to sites like freerice, kiva, and goodsearch, as ways to help alleviate poverty online.
