Thanks for sharing this. I admit that I’ve not even given it second thought when I’ve created videos with sound about those that are hearing impaired. Shame on me! And thank you for reminding me. As a professional educator, I should know better.

I know that wasn’t the main focus of your post yet it was a shining light for me to make improvement with my videos going foward.

As Brad and Robert said above – thank you so much for sharing about your hearing with us.

I can’t begin to imagine how life would be different without the ability to hear, but you seem to have handled it extremely well and overcome the challenges which it presented with amazing courage and a very positive attitude.

Thanks for sharing how your limitation became part of your motivation for doing, Meryl! I’ve heard similar things from folks who faced – and overcame – all sorts of limitations of one kind or another. It’s all in how you respond to the limitation, isn’t it?

Meryl, Thank you for sharing these personal reflections – it is hard to imagine what deafness would be like, but you seem to have overcome your limits with intelligence and grace and persistence. I think you are a genuine inspiration.
