Hi George, I'm glad I could be of help. There is a much more detailed article discussing marketing techniques, with links to some really useful sites, on my author web site at www.FionaIngram.com. Look at the Media Room. I also include some very useful sites generally on the same page.

Hi Meryl, no contest entry here, please. I just want to comment and say how much I appreciate these marketing tips. Some of them are great confirmations on what I know I should be doing and others are gems I never thought of.

Hi everyone and thanks for your comments.
Jodi: I agree with you about Little Women. I wonder if you read Little Men and Jo's Boys, also by Louisa M Alcott.
Activetrail: It's hard for an author to encompass all aspects of online marketing so I picked the ones I could do best by myself. I considered email marketing but have read conflicting opinions so that put me off. I may look at it again now that you have given me the 'free' info. Most companies charge quite a lot for a campaign.

Growing up my favorite book was Little Women--since I wanted to be Jo March. Also, I loved the idea of long swishing gowns. I read it so many times my mom was heard to say "If I see you read that book one more time I'm hiding it."

My favorite book to read to my children is The Monster at the End of This Book by Jon Stone. It's a Sesame Street book featuring Grover--I love doing the voice of Grover and he goes through a lot anger, frustration, fear, embarrasment, begging so it's really fun to read and it always makes the kids laugh. There's also a follow up book that has Elmo in it Another Monster at the End of the Book.
